This year, the Multifamily NW Foundation is proud to support Camp Rosenbaum at our Raise A Glass & Give Fundraiser:
Camp Rosenbaum: A Haven of Hope, Growth, and Community
In the heart of the Pacific Northwest, nestled amidst the serene landscapes of Oregon, lies a haven of hope, growth, and community known as Camp Rosenbaum. Far from just a summer camp, it's a transformative experience that touches the lives of children in profound ways, shaping their futures and fostering bonds that last a lifetime.
Founded in 1969 by Portland Police Officer Ken Bilderback and his wife, Geri, Camp Rosenbaum was established with a vision to provide an enriching experience for underprivileged youth in the Portland area. Named after Portland Police Chief Frank Rosenbaum, the camp aims to create a positive impact on young lives, particularly those facing economic and social challenges.
At Camp Rosenbaum, every child is welcomed with open arms, regardless of their background or circumstances. The camp provides a safe and nurturing environment where children can escape the stresses of daily life, immerse themselves in nature, and participate in a variety of activities designed to foster personal growth and development.
One of the unique aspects of Camp Rosenbaum is its emphasis on building positive relationships between campers and law enforcement officers. Through various programs and interactions, campers have the opportunity to engage with police officers in a friendly and supportive setting, breaking down barriers and building trust between the two groups.
Throughout the week-long summer camp, campers participate in a wide range of activities, including outdoor adventures, arts and crafts, team-building exercises, and educational workshops. These activities not only provide fun and entertainment but also instill important life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and resilience.
Moreover, Camp Rosenbaum offers specialized programs tailored to the unique needs and interests of its campers. From sports clinics to environmental education initiatives, each program is designed to empower campers and help them discover their passions and talents.
Beyond the fun and excitement, Camp Rosenbaum leaves a lasting impact on its participants. Many campers return year after year, forming deep connections with their fellow campers and mentors. These friendships serve as a support network long after the campfire has burned out, providing encouragement and inspiration in times of need.
In addition to its summer camp program, Camp Rosenbaum also operates year-round initiatives aimed at supporting youth in the Portland community. From mentoring programs to scholarship opportunities, the camp continues to make a positive difference in the lives of children, helping them realize their full potential and pursue their dreams.
As Camp Rosenbaum celebrates over five decades of service, its legacy continues to grow, touching the lives of countless individuals and families. Through its unwavering commitment to empowering youth and building bridges between communities, Camp Rosenbaum stands as a beacon of hope and possibility in an ever-changing world.
Camp Rosenbaum is more than just a summer camp—it's a lifeline for children in need, offering them a chance to thrive and succeed in the face of adversity. With its emphasis on community, mentorship, and personal growth, Camp Rosenbaum embodies the true spirit of empowerment and resilience. As it continues to inspire and uplift generations to come, Camp Rosenbaum remains a shining example of the power of compassion, inclusion, and the human spirit.
